Nilesh was born and raised in Nashik, a small town in India. His upbringing gave him an appreciation for life and nature from an early age. His works are based on formal associations that open a unique poetic vein. By applying abstraction, he tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way, involving the viewer in a journey that is sometimes physical and emotional.
His works doesn’t reference recognisable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. From his work, multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned.
Youngest amongst three brothers, Nilesh spent most of his childhood drawing and playing in the riverside. He graduated with distinction from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat (Bangalore), one of the highly reputed art colleges in India, with a Master of Visual Arts Degree.
Nilesh has exhibited his work in Indian galleries, art fairs, online and in special events. He specialises in painting and print making, but also works in digital media, illustrating both by vector and in digital painting for his various projects.
He cites influences by Rabindranath Tagore, Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo and Madhav Satavalekar. Nilesh’s work is a mix of traditional, contemporary, realism and abstracts, which creates a unique and colourful style enjoyed by everyone.
Nilesh currently lives and works in Dubai, UAE. And using Dubai as his base, Nilesh has travelled across Western and Eastern Europe, Asia and the Pacific, experiencing culture, art and history that reflect in his work.
Apart from travelling, Nilesh loves to cook, is a swimmer, amateur writer and an animal lover. He has a Golden Retriever named Comet, who often plays hide-and-seek with his paintbrushes.
